Site shows moderate salt marsh impairment due to restricted tidal flow. Replacement with self-regulating tide gate could restore approximately 5-8 acres of degraded marsh habitat. - "...appears to be located along Winthrop Shore Parkway. I believe this is an upland type gate that is closed along the parkway to prevent drainage flows at a low spot on the parkway. The Corps constructed this tide gate, however, I do not think it fits into the inventory as there are no upstream wetlands and this is just a flood protection project feature." E.Reiner
